EEC Council to approve regulations on countries of origin for public procurement
<p> MINSK, Dec 14 - PrimePress. At the session held on December 11, 2020, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) vested the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) with the authority to approve the regulations on the country of origin of a number of commodities for public procurement, the EEC press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The EEC Council approved on November 23, 2020 the procedures for determining the country of origin for public procurement with a deferral period, which gives the EEC Council the authority to approve the regulations. The EEC Council’s decision has come into force. </p> <p> </p> <p> It is expected that the regulations approved by the EEC Council will ensure equal access to public procurement in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) for suppliers of all EEU member states, step up product localization, raise investment funds, and help provide incentives for industrial cooperation in the EEU. </p> <p> </p> <p> The regulations introduce a register of industrial goods originated from the EEU member states to be put on the register following expert examination by national authorized agencies. Removal of items and producers from the Eurasian register falls under the competence of the EEC Collegium as per amendments to the Commission’s regulations made by the EEC on December 11, 2020.
