EEC Council temporarily slashes to zero customs duty on imports of certain viscose fibres

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on 23 </p> <p> Dec 2020 decided to reduce the rate of import customs duty on certain types of artificial viscose fibers from 5% to 0% until December 31, 2021, the EEC press service reported. </p> <p> </p> <p> Reportedly, the preferential import procedure applies to fibers that are not currently produced in the EEU, but are widely used in the light industry of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia for the production of non-woven materials, household and hygiene products, disposable technological clothing. </p> <p> </p> <p> The temporary nature of the measure is determined by the fact that by 2022 the EEU plans to organize its own production of viscose fibres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The decision shall enter into force 30 days after its official publication.
