EEC Board approves Belarus’ state regulation of prices of certain essential goods
<p> MINSK, Mar 23 - PrimePress. The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) agreed to extend the term of state regulation of prices for a number of socially important goods in Belarus, said Iya Malkina, Aide to Chairman of the EEC Board. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The period is extended until June 29 from April 1, that is, for 90 days for 17 commodity items. These are fresh-frozen fish, meat, milk and dairy products, sugar, buckwheat and other goods. The entire list is prescribed in the Ministry of Antimonopoly and Trade’s Regulation No. 83 of December 28, 2020. Also, the deadline for canned fish has been extended by 41 days - from May 20 till June 29, inclusive,” Prime agency quoted Malkina’s statement on Facebook. </p> <p> </p> <p> She also noted that the introduction of the temporary measures did not create a barrier to entry into the market of Belarus for other EEU countries. </p> <p> </p> <p> Earlier, the EEC received two notifications from the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on the regulation of prices of some socially important goods. </p> <p> </p> <p> Notification No.83 issued by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) of Belarus on December 28, 2020 envisaged introduction of state regulation of prices of 17 socially important goods for 90 days in the first quarter of 2021. This concerns meat, fish, dairy products, bakery products, cereals, sugar, baby food, etc. The ministry pointed at the pandemic impacts on trade, justifying the price regulation aimed at preventing overpricing of essential products.
