MINSK, Aug 10 - PrimePress. EPAM is not going to leave Belarus only if it is not forced to do so, EPAM CEO Arkadiy Dobkin said in a commentary published on the website dev.by.
At his press conference on 9 August, Alexander Lukashenko said that EPAM had been transferring money to finance protest actions. Lukashenko emphasized: “We must be able to see all financial flows. Make the product, get the money, but it has to be here”.
EPAM has been doing business in Belarus and other countries of the world for more than 25 years and acts responsibly, Dobkin said.
“This means that our responsibility to our employees, customers, and investors has never allowed us to take ill-considered or inappropriate steps that would risk disrupting the company’s operations, or, more simply, losing our reputation. These principles guide all EPAM management globally, in Belarus and elsewhere. In addition, as a global public company, all financial transactions of EPAM, as well as the personal financial transactions of its key executives...are strictly regulated by the board and subject to numerous international audits, leaving no room for inaccurate interpretations, assumptions or commentary,” said Dobkin.
This, he said, means that the company had no intention of leaving Belarus.
“As long as there are young people willing to learn, as long as there is talent willing to live and work in the country, and as long as there are clients who appreciate this talent and are willing to work with EPAM Belarus - we plan to continue working and developing the company here. Until we are forced to leave the country,” said Dobkin.
In his words, EPAM now operates in nearly 40 countries and the company’s turnover is growing by about 40% annually. The number of people employed by the company is expected to increase by 10,000 in 2021.
EPAM was founded in 1993 by Arkadiy Dobkin and Leonid Lozner. EPAM Systems is a resident of Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park. The company operates in IT consulting, software development, application integration and digital strategies. EPAM’s revenues in 2019 amounted to $2.29 billion. End
