CIS trade turnover down 16.6% in Jan-Jul 2020 amid pandemic – Belarus premier
<p> MINSK, Nov 6 - PrimePress. Trade turnover between the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) decreased by 16.6% year on year in January-July 2020 amid the pandemic. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made a statement to this effect at a videoconference meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government. </p> <p> </p> <p> “A combination of the known factors of the Year 2020, especially measures to counteract the pandemic, has led to a slowdown in the development of individual sectors of the CIS economies. The volume of foreign trade turnover between the CIS countries fell by 16.6% over the seven months. In January-August, industrial output in the Commonwealth fell by 4% year on year. Cargo transportation decreased by 4.8%, and passenger transportation decreased by more than a quarter, by 28%,” Golovchenko said. End </p>
