BPC’s rivals not happy about knocked down potash price for India – Uralkali

The price set by the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) in the contract with Indian mineral fertilizer importer IPL does not meet the interests of the leading producers of potash fertilizers, CEO of Uralkali Trading (Perm Region, Russia) Alexander Terletsky says in the statement posted on the company’s website. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Considering the positive market conditions demonstrated in the second half of 2020 and early 2021, as well as the continuous growth in demand for potassium chloride in the main consumer markets this year, Uralkali believes that the price of the contract signed with India is not in line with the current market trends, and does not meet the interests of leading producers of potash fertilizers,” reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The BPC reported on January 29 the signing of a contract with Indian IPL for the supply of potash fertilizers in 2021. The contract price rose by 7.4% from 2020 to $247 per tonne. Uralkali earlier also criticized BPC for the 2020 contract with China, calling the price of $220 per tonne a “price bottom.” </p> <p> </p> <p> Uralkali is one of the world’s leading potash producers and exporters. The company operate five mines and seven processing plants. Its central production division employs over 12,000 people. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Belarusian Potash Company was established in 2013 as an exclusive exporter of potash fertilizers of Belarus. The company’s shares belong to Belaruskali OJSC (Soligorsk, Minsk Oblast), Belarusian Railway state-owned association, and Beleximgarant state-owned company. As of 2018, the BPC’s share of the world export of potash fertilizers made up 20.5%. The BPC exports fertilizers to nearly 130 countries. End </p>
