BPC authorized to pay export duty on potash fertilizers in euros or dollars – ordinance
<p> MINSK, Jun 9 - PrimePress. Belarusian Potash Company (BPC, a designated export trader in potash fertilizers) may pay the export duty on potash fertilizers in euros or in dollars, in accordance with presidential ordinance #205 of June 7, 2021 “On potash fertilizer sales”, which was published on the National Legal Internet Portal on June 9. </p> <p> </p> <p> Five out of seven paragraphs of the ordinance are marked “restricted circulation: for official use”. </p> <p> </p> <p> The ordinance shall come into force upon signing and shall partially apply to the relations arising from January 1, 2021 and partially - to those arising from June 1, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> In 2020, the export duty on potash fertilizers in Belarus was €55 per tonne. In 2021, the Ministry of Finance of Belarus did not report the size of the duty. Experts assume that the variation of the export duty on potash fertilizers, provided by the ordinance, may be due to the fear of the EU sectoral sanctions. </p> <p> </p> <p> Revenues of Belarus’ state budget for 2021 include proceeds from the export duty on potash fertilizers in the amount of Br1.6 billion ($634.366 million at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus increased potash fertilizer export by 14.8% year on year in Jan-Mar 2021 to $609.113 million, reads the official statistical report. </p> <p> </p> <p> In physical terms, Belarus’ potash exports grew by 31.5% yoy in Q1 2021 to 1.825 million tonnes, according to statistics provided by Belstat. </p> <p> </p> <p> The average export price of Belarusian potash fertilizers in Jan-Mar 2021 stood at $329 per tonne, down 12.7% year on year. </p> <p> </p> <p> Established in 2013, BPC acts as Belarus’ designated export trader of potash fertilizers produced by OAO Belaruskali. </p> <p> </p> <p> BPC shareholders are Belaruskali (Soligorsk, Minsk Oblast), Belarusian Railways and state enterprise Beleximgarant.
