Belorusneft’s discovers new oilfield in Gomel Oblast

Belorusneft (Rechitsa, Gomel Oblast) – Belarus’ sole producer of crude oil – says a new oilfield has been discovered near Rechitsa (Gomel Oblast) with estimated reserves of 600,000 tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to preliminary estimates, the geological reserves of the Guryanovskoye field may amount to 600,000 tonnes. More precise estimation of hydrocarbon reserves will be made after the construction and development of the well, as well as clarification of the geological structure of the Guryanovskoye field. </p> <p> </p> <p> Guryanovskoye oilfield has been a third oilfield discovered by Belorusneft in 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> "In five years, we have already discovered eight new oilfields in the region. At the same time, the increase in reserves amounted to 7.5 million tonnes. Since 2018, we have reached full compensation of oil production by the reserves increment," said Belorusneft Geology Director Petr Povzhik. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus Andrei Khudyk said that Belarus plans to increase oil production on its territory from 1.7 million tonnes to 2 million tonnes per year in the coming years. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus increased oil output in 2020 by 1.2% against 2019 to 1.71 million tonnes. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belorusneft was founded in 1966.
