Belorusneft plans to commission Gomel-Gorki oil pipeline in Sep 2022

Belorusneft State Association (Rechitsa, Gomel Oblast) plans to put the Gomel-Gorki oil pipeline into operation in September 2022, the Association reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Gomeltransneft Druzhba OJSC state oil transportation operator said on October 22, 2020 that the construction of the first section of the Gomel-Gorki oil pipeline in the Gomel Oblast had begun. Belorusneft acts as the general contractor. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Belorusneft, the construction will involve around 1,000 workers and an automated orbital welding unit, which was used during the construction of the Mozyr-Unecha oil pipeline in the summer of 2020. Welding works account for 10% of the total amount of works to be performed under the project. </p> <p> </p> <p> The cost of the construction of the 207 km pipeline (530 mm in diameter) stands at about Br300 million ($117.804 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus). It is expected to be completed before 2023, according to presidential directive of April 29, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> The construction is divided into 12 stages for the linear part, the construction of an oil pumping station in Gomel, a pumping station in Gorki, an intermediate station (if the pumping capacity is over 4 million tonnes per year), and reconstruction of two already operating Gomel and Gorki pumping station. The maximum capacity will be 6 million tons per year. </p> <p> </p> <p> The pipeline will run across the Gomel, Buda-Koshelevo, Chechersk and Kormyany Districts of the Gomel Oblast and the Cherikov, Slavgorod and Krichev Districts of the Mogilev Oblast. It will connect the southern (Unecha-Mozyr-Adamowo) and northern (Unecha-Polotsk) strings of the Druzhba pipeline, and make it possible to transport crude oil to the Belarusian refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery, Gomel Oblast, and Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) from Russia, Ukraine and Poland, including in the reverse mode. </p> <p> </p> <p> Currently, Belarus is diversifying oil supplies to its two refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery OJSC, Gomel Oblast, and Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast), continuing bargaining over the price with its main traditional supplier–Russia. Belarus receives Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline and by rail, and oil from alternative suppliers by sea through the ports of Klaipeda (Lithuania) and Odessa (Ukraine). This year, Belarus purchased oil from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Norway, Saudi Arabia and the United States. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration works, oil extraction, gas processing, and offers a wide range of seismic exploration operations. </p> <p> Belorusneft provides oil extraction services in Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela and Ecuador, facilitates crude supplies to the Belarusian oil refineries (Mozyr Oil Refinery, Gomel Oblast, and Naftan OJSC, Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast) on a give-and-take basis.
