BelOil to cut A-95 petrol supplies to Ukraine in June to 40-45% of base contract level

Belarusian Oil Company (BelOil), the designated export trader in Belarusian oil products, will supply about 18,000 to 20,000 tons of A-95 petrol to Ukraine under long-term contracts in June 2021. This will amount to 40-45% of the base contract level, according to ArgusMedia. </p> <p> </p> <p> June shipments of A-92 petrol under long-term contracts from Belarus are expected to remain unchanged, i.e., 16,000 tons. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to ArgusMedia, A-95 petrol supplies from Belarus to the Ukrainian market will drop in June because of turnaround maintenance at the Mozyr oil refinery (Gomel Oblast). Earlier the company planned to finish the turnaround maintenance in late June. This was caused by a significant reduction in supplies of Russian oil to Belarus’ second refinery, Naftan (Novopolotsk, Vitebsk Oblast), in May because of U.S. sanctions. </p> <p> </p> <p> All in all, Belarus ships to Ukraine under long-term and spot contracts about 70-90 thousand tonnes of gasoline per month on average, which accounts for more than 80% of the import balance. The Mozyr refinery accounts for the bulk of supplies, while Naftan ships only small batches of A-92 to Ukraine. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to ArgusMedia data, in June, Ukrainian companies will also receive about 170 thousand tons of diesel fuel from Belarus under the long-term contracts, which is about 70% of the base contract level, although previously 150 thousand tons of diesel was expected. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, BelOil may reduce supplies of A-95 petrol to Ukraine by 5.5 times compared to the monthly average level (55,000 tons), to 10,000 tons. Initially, BelOil admitted that supplies of A-95 petrol to Ukraine would have to be terminated completely in June 2021 because of the turnaround maintenance at the Mozyr Oil Refinery, which was announced to Ukrainian counterparts. At the same time, Deputy General Director of BelOil-Ukraine Sergey Melnikov said on May 28 that there were no bans on supplies of gasoline to Ukraine. The issue is only about reducing the supplies due to the planned repairs at the Mozyr Refinery. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, BelOil’s petrol supplies to Ukraine doubled year on year in January-April 2021 to 87,000 tons.
