BelAZ assembles custom-made heavy-duty truck with 150-tonne payload for Russia’s Metalloinvest
<p> MINSK, Apr 8 - PrimePress. Belarus’ truck maker BelAZ (Zhodino, Minsk Oblast) has finished assembling the BelAZ-79211 seven-axle heavy-duty truck with 150-tonne payload. After acceptance tests the truck will be shipped to the customer - Oskolsky electrometallurgical plant named after A.A. Ugarov (OEMK, the Russian Metalloinvest holding), BelAZ said in a press-release. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The BelAZ-7921 heavy-duty truck series is one of the main vehicles used by OEMK for in-house transportation of large-size technological cargoes. The custom-made BelAZ-79211 is about 13 metres long, almost 4 metres wide, but at the same time very low - the height of cargo platform is only 1.6 m. However, thanks to a hydro-balanced suspension on the longitudinal levers, the height of the truck can be adjusted if necessary - it is also a specific operating feature", says the report. </p> <p> </p> <p> The truck is equipped with a Cummins engine, modern brake system, a fire extinguishing system and automatic lubrication. The chassis is equipped with 14 high-elastic tyres (14x4). </p> <p> </p> <p> At present OEMK’s fleet of BelAZ vehicles consists of 22 trucks: mine dump trucks with payload capacity of 30, 42-45 tons and special equipment. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) was set up in 1948. It is one of the world’s largest producers of automobiles for open cast mines and building significant hydroengineering objects. </p> <p> </p> <p> The company assembles over 200 models of mine trucks with the carrying capacity ranging from 30 to 450 tons, special machines (front loaders, wheel bulldozers, wheel vehicles for metallurgic companies, aircraft haulers, irrigative machinery, automobile dump semitrailers, and consumer goods). </p> <p> Engines for rock handlers are supplied by foreign companies such as Cummins (USA) and Deutz (Germany), less powerful ones are bought from Yaroslavl Automobile Plant and Ural Motor Plant (Russia). </p> <p> </p> <p> The annual output equals 800-900 items. BelAZ produces heavy-duty trucks for open-cast mining in South-East Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The company controls one-third of the global market of dump trucks.
