Belavia receives first out of five Boeing 737-8 aircrafts under contract with Air Lease Corporation

Belavia has received the first Boeing 737-8 under the July 2018 contract with Air Lease Corporation (ALC), which provides for the delivery of five such aircraft to Belarus, Belavia's press service said on 8 April 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Boeing 737-8 has a range of 6,574 km. Belavia plans to operate these aircraft on the most popular scheduled routes, as well as on the longest routes. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Belavia has been the twenty-first airline in the world to start operating the Boeing 737-8. The aircraft is designed to carry 174 passengers: 162 seats in economy class and 12 seats in business class,” the statement said. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belavia CEO Igor Cherginets says the new generation Boeing 737-8 would gradually replace the Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 737-500, which are operated by the airline. In his words, the Boeing 737-8 is more environmentally friendly and economical, which will reduce the cost of airline tickets. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belavia is the largest airline in Belarus, which operates regular flights to 27 countries in Europe and Asia. It has been a full member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 1997 and a member of the European Regional Airlines Association (ERAA) since 2010.
