Belarusians to cover 70% urban transportation costs by 2023 – program

The population of Belarus will cover at least 70% of the urban transportation services costs by 2023; at least 85% in the regions and 60% in Minsk, reads the anti-inflationary program for 2021-2023 approved by joint resolution No.674/22 of the government and the National Bank of Belarus of November 25, 2020 posted on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus on November 28, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the program, it is planned to raise tariffs and optimize the costs of carriers. </p> <p> </p> <p> Suburban automobile transportation tariffs will be raised to cover 60% of the costs. Railway transportation costs are planned to be optimized and tariffs to be revised in 2021-2023 to ensure the annual 20% coverage. </p> <p> </p> <p> Government agencies will continue efforts to ensure the 100% coverage of telecommunications services by households by regulating tariffs. </p> <p> </p> <p> The program provides for the phase-by-phase abolition of the gas price differentiation for utility service providers in the housing and utilities sector, depending on the gas use purposes. </p> <p> </p> <p> The authorities also plan a phased reduction in cross-subsidies for energy in the real sector of economy, containment of housing and utility tariff growth, and maintaining of the 100% coverage of housing and utility service costs.
