Belarusian Railways to start trial operation of 3 interregional electric trains on Minsk-Gomel route

The Belarusian Railways (Belarus Rail) will commence trial operation of three five-car business class electric trains on the Minsk-Gomel route with the passengers on 6 September 2021, said the press service of the Belarusian Railways. </p> <p> </p> <p> “Interregional five-car business class electric trains made by Stadler Minsk correspond to modern requirements for traffic safety and passenger comfort. The base model for their development was the seven-car EPM series electric trains, which have been running on the Belarusian Railways since August 2016,” the statement says. </p> <p> </p> <p> The maximum speed of the new trains is 160 km/h, there are 262 seats for first and second class tickets. There are 16 seats in the first class (higher comfort) zone. The trains are air-conditioned and equipped with a wireless media server system using Wi-Fi technology. </p> <p> </p> <p> "In 2019, the Belarusian Railways and Stadler Minsk signed a contract for the delivery of ten modern five-car electric trains of the EPM series. At present Belarus Railways has already received three electric trains, while the delivery of the remaining seven trains is scheduled for October 2021-April 2022. The new rolling stock will be used at the most electrified sections of the Belarusian Railway,” reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarusian Railways operates 18 modern electric trains produced by Stadler (Switzerland), which run on the business-class urban, regional and inter-regional lines.
