Belarusian operators becloud, A1 perform test runs of Gigabit LTE technology

Belarus’ infrastructure operator beCloud in cooperation with A1 - Belarusian provider of telecommunications, ICT and content services, have conducted tests of Gigabit LTE technology on beCloud’s LTE network, the infrastructure operator said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> The use of Gigabit LTE not only enables significantly higher speeds for today’s mobile devices, but also increases network capacity. </p> <p> </p> <p> To deploy Gigabit LTE at one of the base stations in Gomel, beCloud specialists aggregated five frequency bands in all three available frequency bands - 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz. As a result of the testing, peak data transmission speeds (around 800 Mbit/s) were achieved. </p> <p> </p> <p> beCloud implemented the pilot project in cooperation with provider A1, which provided the base station infrastructure to host the beCloud additional equipment, the communication channel and provided the technical parameters required for testing. </p> <p> </p> <p> "Active deployment of LTE Advanced networks continues around the world and their capabilities will last for a long time to come. The technology will still be a mainstream data technology for the next few years. The potential of LTE Advanced fully allows us to meet the growing market demand for the development and use of high-speed services," said Mikhail Duka, becloud Vice CEO. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus Cloud Technologies JLLC (beCloud) was established in 2012, with a 51% held by the National Traffic Exchange Centre. In December 2015, beCloud launched its LTE Advanced network (4G) in Minsk. beCloud stands behind 4 infrastructural projects in Belarus: the national datacom network, the national data processing centre, the cloud platform, and the LTE Advanced network. The mobile operator A1 started revenue service of its 3G network based on the HSPA/HSPA+ technology in March 2010. The operator made 4G mobile internet services available to customers in March 2019.
