Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Subbotin made a statement to this effect at a press-conference on November 12 following his meeting with Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko.
As previously reported, Lukashenko instructed the government to monitor the efforts of local authorities aimed at restraining the growth of consumer prices in winter and spring.
Subbotin has assured that Lukashenko’s instruction to keep prices in check will be fulfilled. In his words, the government, MART (the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade), and the Ministry of Agriculture will practise sustained price monitoring in order to disrupt deliberate attempts aimed provoking hikes in consumer prices.
