Belarus warns about inability to supply electricity to Ukraine under frame contracts in November

The state-owned production association Belenergo has sent notifications to a number of Ukrainian counterparties of its unwillingness to supply electricity in November 2021 based on earlier framework contracts, Interfax-Ukraine news agency reported. </p> <p> </p> <p> Earlier, following a monthly auction for November, 855MW of capacity for imports from Belarus was purchased by NAEC Energoatom, and another 15MW by Electro Community LLC. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the agency, the Belarusian side would not approve the physical volumes of imports to Energoatom “because of politics”. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belenergo is also reportedly not considering new framework contracts for power supply in November. </p> <p> </p> <p> At the same time, sources told Interfax-Ukraine that traders will continue importing electricity from Belarus to Ukraine under the existing commercial contracts. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Ukraine increased imports of electricity from Belarus since the resumption of commercial supplies on 6 November 2021 from 5 MWh to 400 MWh as of 8 November. The supply schedule was formed by the Belarusian side taking into account the existing technical capabilities: the operation modes of the energy system and capacities of the generating equipment,” the Ministry of Energy's official telegram channel said in a statement.
