MINSK, Oct 30 - PrimePress. In the near future Belarus’ authorities are unlikely to take the same position regarding diversification of sources of oil procurement.
Igor Yushkov, an expert at the Finance University under the Government of the Russian Federation and lead analyst at Russia’s National Energy Security Fund, made a statement to this effect in an interview for PrimePress.
“No statements on this issue (about alternative oil supplies to Belarus – editor’s note) have been heard from Lukashenko after the elections (presidential elections in Belarus on August 9, 2020 - editor’s note). By inertia, the oil cargoes already contracted keep coming to Belarus. But I doubt that there will be new deliveries,” said Yushkov.
On the contrary, he added, “we see that the discussion about the fact that Belarusian oil products should be transshipped via Russian ports not Baltic ports, has resumed.”
“In this matter, a strategic decision has probably been made at the level of the President that the flow of oil products will go to Russia. But now these agreements have to be implemented somehow,” said Yushkov. End
