Belarus to sustain control over pricing - Lukashenko

Control over pricing in Belarus will remain one of the priorities, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said in an address to the VI All-Belarusian People's Congress on 11 February. </p> <p> </p> <p> He noted that pricing is controlled by the State Control Committee (SCC), the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART), members of the National Assembly and trade unions. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus reported 7.4% inflation in 2020, with the official forecast of no more than 5%. Belarus’ monetary and credit policy guidelines for 2021 are designed to keep inflation under 5%. MART regulates prices for goods included in the list of socially important goods. Also, maximum marginal trade mark-ups, including wholesale mark-ups, were set in Belarus for socially important goods in the amount of 15-30% depending on the item.
