Belarus to raise telecom operators’ profit tax from 18% to 30% in 2021 - bill
<p> MINSK, Dec 18 - PrimePress. Belarus’ authorities plan to raise the profit tax payable by mobile operators and providers universal telecommunication services from 18% at the moment up to 30% in 2021, in accordance with the bill on amendments to the Tax Code of Belarus, which was approved in two readings by the lower chamber of Belarus’ parliament. </p> <p> </p> <p> Currently, mobile telecommunication services in Belarus are provided by operators Beltelecom, A1, MTS, life :), while Beltelecom has been appointed the default provider of universal telecommunications services. </p> <p> </p> <p> Besides, an amendment to the Tax Code was introduced, according to which income of individuals, received during the calendar year under employment contracts from residents of the High Technologies Park (HTP), residents of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park "Great Stone" and the Belarusian-Chinese joint company on development of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park "Great Stone", is subject to personal income tax at the rate of 13%. Currently, the income tax rate on such income is 9%, while the default income tax rate for salaries of Belarusian employees stands at 13%. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We believe that … there will be no significant outflow of workers from this sector because of this measure, because the basic tax package, which makes it attractive for organizations to work in the HTP, will remain. Here we just ask citizens to contribute to financing public expenditures, but directly for the HTP residents the benefits will be preserved,” Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Kiyko commented in an interview to the TV channel Belarus 1. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the bill, the increased tax rates will be valid for two years (2021-2022).
