Belarus to raise minimum wage by 6.7% to Br400 Jan 1, 2020

The government of Belarus will raise on January 1, 2021 the minimum wage by 6.7% to Br400 ($158.5 at the rate of National Bank of Belarus), as per government resolution No.740 of December 21, 2020, the government’s press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Last time, the minimum wage rose on January 1, 2020 by 13.6% to Br375 ($148.6). </p> <p> </p> <p> In conformity with the law, the government sets the monthly minimum wage on an annual basis every January 1. The monthly and hourly minimum wage is a state minimum social standard for remuneration of labor the employer is to pay the employee for working in normal conditions during normal working hours under local normative legal acts and employment contracts. </p> <p> </p> <p> A collective agreement (contract) may set a different amount of the minimum wage, which must not be lower than the amount of the monthly minimum wage established by law.
