Belarus to purchase 2m doses of COVID-19 vaccine for Br50m in 2021 – FinMin

Belarus plans to purchase 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine worth Br50 million ($19.55 million at the rate of the National Bank of Belarus) in 2021, head of the Welfare and Science Spending Department of the Finance Ministry of Belarus Tatiana Astreiko told reporters after an extended session of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus held on December 9, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We are well-prepared for countering the coronavirus infection. Around Br500 million ($195.526 million) has already been allocated for this purpose in direct payments this year. We are also ready for a strong response next year. Among other things, the Health Ministry will provide Br50 million rubles for the purchase of 2 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine,” BelTA state newswire quotes Astreiko as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to Astreiko, the cost of treatment of one COVID-positive patient ranges from Br300 to Br3,300 ($117.3-1,290), depending on disease severity. For comparison, one vaccine costs Br30 ($11.73).
