Belarus will open its embassy in Zimbabwe by 31 January 2022, in accordance with government resolution #477 of 23 August 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The document was published on the website of the National Legal Internet Portal on 25 August. </p> <p> </p> <p> The document instructs the Ministry of Finance to “cover the opening and maintenance costs of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Zimbabwe within the funds allocated for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the national budget for the opening and maintenance of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Belarus abroad.” </p> <p> </p> <p> Ambassador of Belarus to South Africa (with concurrent accreditation to Angola, Mozambique and Namibia) Alexander Sidoruk currently acts as Belarus’ Ambassador to Zimbabwe (also with a concurrent accreditation). </p> <p> </p> <p> According to official statistics, in January-June 2021, trade between Belarus and Zimbabwe increased by 67.2% up to $15.3 million, including exports - by 72.8% to $10.6 million, imports - by 55.6% to $4.68 million. In 2020 bilateral trade turnover amounted to $33.6 million, including exports of $24.1 million and imports of $9.5 million. End </p>
