Belarus to invest $56m in bottle production at Grodno Glass Works

A project to forge new glass bottles at Grodno Glass Works will receive $56 million in investment funding, according to the website of the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The capacity of the new production facility will be more than 200 million pieces of finished products of any colour per year. </p> <p> </p> <p> “The Grodno glass factory faces a tough challenge: they need to saturate the domestic market with high-quality products that meet modern requirements. Advance payments for imported equipment, which has no analogues in the country, have already been made. The future factory is a modern production facility using innovative, energy efficient and resource saving technologies. A furnace with a capacity of 220 tonnes of glass per day will feed molten glass mass into three lines, two 8-sectional and one 10-sectional. The operating mode is triple-gob, which is also a novelty for the Belarusian glass industry,” the report says. </p> <p> </p> <p> The capacity of Belarus’ glass factories is not enough to cover the needs of the domestic market in full. “The new production facility in Grodno will make up for this shortage. Not only the new facilities but also the modernization of the old production will help to increase the output of glass containers and compensate for the transition. Today Grodno Glassworks has three furnaces which together can produce 140 tonnes of glass,” said the Ministry of Construction and Architecture. </p> <p> </p> <p> Grodno Glassworks was founded in 1922. In 2012 it was transformed into an open joint-stock company. The state share in the authorized capital is 98.65%. The plant produces green glassware, reinforced and patterned glass, and exclusive glassware.
