Belarus to borrow $20m from OPEC Fund to support health care

Belarus and the OPEC Fund for International Development signed on December 24, 2020 an agreement on a $20 million loan to Belarus, the Finance Ministry’s press office reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The funds will be used to support Belarus’ health care and mitigate risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Finance Ministry of Belarus planned to sign this loan agreement back in September 2020 to use the money to cover the costs incurred due to the pandemic. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus has not worked with this creditor before. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Fund for International Development of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is an intergovernmental financial institution headquartered in Vienna (Austria).
