Belarus’ timber export up 64% in Jan-Jul to $1.332 billion

Belarus increased export of timber, timber products and charcoal in January-July 2021 by 64% year on year up to $1.332 billion, said the National Statistical Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> In particular, in January-July 2021, exports of long-sawn timber increased by 66.2% to $477.081 million, in volume terms - down 10.1% to 2.23 million cubic metres. The main volume of this product was supplied to the European Union countries - 1.842 million cubic metres (down 9% yoy) worth $409.788 million (+72.4%). Including 540.5 thousand cubic metres to Latvia (+44.1%) worth $131.364 million (2.9 times more), to Lithuania - 449.7 thousand cubic metres (minus 27.8%) worth $102.015 million (+40%), to Germany - 292 thousand cubic metres (minus 4.5%) worth $58.187 million (+79.5%). Deliveries to China were 297.9 thousand cubic metres (+16.5%) worth $49.383 million (+80.2%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-July 2021, exports of processed pinewood increased by 67.4% to 357.385 million dollars, in volume terms - decreased by 10.5% to 1.658 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The main volume of this product was also supplied to the European Union countries - 1.344 million cubic metres (minus 9.7%) worth $302.607 million (+73.4%). Of these, 430.3 thousand cubic metres were shipped to Latvia (+44.6%) worth $104.803 million (three times more), 354.6 thousand cubic metres to Lithuania (minus 27.5%) worth $81.269 million (+42.4%), 173.5 thousand cubic metres to Germany (minus 8.6%) worth $34.547 million (+70.1%). Exports to China amounted to 237.5 thousand cubic metres (+12%) worth $39.611 million (+75.9%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of fuelwood increased by 0.4% to $87.964 million, and decreased by 7.8% to 1.979 million cubic metres in volume terms. </p> <p> </p> <p> The main volume of this product was also supplied to the European Union - more than 1.973 million tons (minus 8%) worth $87.062 million (minus 0.4%): 382.4 thousand tons (minus 20.3%) to Latvia - $14.668 million (minus 11.1%), to Lithuania - 498.9 thousand tons (+17.3%) - $22.488 million (+5.7%), to Poland - 754.8 thousand tons (minus 11.6%) - $20.747 million (minus 3.2%), to Denmark - 138.9 thousand tons (+32.9%) - $11.472 million (+8.2%).
