Belarus timber export up 61% in January-September to $1.765 billion

Belarus increased export of timber, timber products and charcoal by 61% year on year in January-September 2021 to $1.765 billion, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) told PrimePress. </p> <p> </p> <p> This includes exports of long-sawn timber, which rose by 71.2% to $632.829 million in January-September 2021, while in volume terms, exports of these products fell by 11.9% to 2.765 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The main volume of these products was supplied to the European Union (EU) - 2.286 million cubic metres (minus 10.3% yoy) worth $545.53 million (+78.5%). In particular, Belarus delivered 661.5 thousand cubic metres to Latvia (+33.9%) worth $171.259 million (2.8 times more), 534.6 thousand cubic metres to Lithuania (minus 30.8%) worth $127.901 million (+39.6%), 366.4 thousand cubic metres to Germany (minus 4.3%) worth $79.283 million (+92.6%). Deliveries to China were 358.6 thousand cubic metres (+7.8%) at $61.064 million (+70.8%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-September 2021, exports of processed pine timber increased by 70.6% to $466.183 million, in volume terms, exports of these products decreased by 12.7% to 2.035 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> The EU member states received 1.64 million cubic metres of these products (minus 12.1% yoy) worth $393.83 million (+76.2%). Belarus delivered 520.3 thousand cubic metres to Latvia (+32.8%) worth 134.545 million dollars (2.8 times more), 415.5thousand cubic metres to Lithuania (minus 31.3%) worth $99.978 million (+38.7%), 213.5 thousand cubic metres to Germany (minus 8.6%) worth $45.664 million (+80%). Deliveries to China were 290.7 thousand cubic metres (+8.7%) worth $49.837 million (+74.8%). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-September 2021, exports of fuelwood fell by 2% to $115.109 million, and in physical terms exports of this product fell by 13.7% to 2.426 million cubic metres.
