Belarus’ timber export up 53.1% to $833.323 million in Jan-May 2021

Belarus increased export of timber, timber products and fuel coal by 53.1% year on year in January-May 2021 to $833.323 million, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) told PrimePress Agency. </p> <p> </p> <p> This includes exports of longitudinally sawn timber rose by 42.9% to $284.229 million in January-May 2021, while in physical terms it decreased by 12.3% to 1.53 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus exported to the European Union (EU) 1.258 million cubic metres (down 12.6% yoy) of timber and timber products worth $241.846 million (+45.2%): Latvia - 363 thousand cubic metres (+47.3%) worth $75.801 million (2.6 times more); Lithuania - 329.6 thousand cubic metres (minus 26.1%) worth $66.406 million (+29.3%), Germany - 192.3 thousand cubic metres (minus 16.4%) worth $31.453 million (+30.3%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus’ timber exports to China amounted to 210.7 thousand cubic metres (+28.3%) to the tune of $31.934 million (+86.7%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of trimmed pine timber increased by 44.3% yoy in January-May 2021 to $213.814 million, in physical terms - down 12.8% to 1.14 million cubic metres. The volume of supplies of these products to the EU countries in January-May 2021 was 921.9 thousand cubic metres (minus 13.3% yoy) worth $179.875 million (+46.6%): Latvia - 290.1 thousand cubic metres (+49.3%) worth $60.784 million (2.7 times more); Lithuania - 259.4 thousand cubic metres (minus 26.8%) worth $53.157 million (+30.1%); Germany - 114.8 thousand cubic metres (minus 20%) worth $18.865 million (+24%). Supplies to China amounted to 166.4 thousand cubic metres (+20.4%) worth $25.386 million (+78.6%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of fuelwood fell by 0.1% year on year in January-May 2021 to $61.961 million, in physical terms down 4.4% to 1.48 million cubic metres. </p> <p> </p> <p> Almost all of this volume was delivered to the EU - 1.478 million tons (minus 4.5%) for $61.427 million (minus 0.7%): Latvia - 284.9 thousand tons (minus 16.6%) worth $10.67 million (minus 10%); Lithuania - 380 thousand tons (+25.7%) worth $16.096 million (+9.1%); Poland - 574.8 thousand tons (minus 7.1%) worth $14.75 million (minus 4.7%); Denmark - 114.7 thousand tons (+30.5%) worth $9.552 million (+8.1%).
