Belarus temporarily bans exit via terrestrial border checkpoints due to coronavirus pandemic

On Dec 21, 2020, Belarus will temporarily close its land borders for persons leaving the country amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, as follows from the government resolution of December 7 that was published on Thursday. </p> <p> </p> <p> The document rules to temporary ban, from December 21, 2020, Belarusian nationals and foreign holders of residence permits from leaving the country via terrestrial border checkpoints (road border crossings, simplified border crossings, at railway stations, border crossings in river ports), in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection in Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The resolution allows for exceptions: exit from Belarus may be permitted in exceptional cases related to extraordinary circumstances, as well as in order to safeguard the national interests of the country by decision of the Chairman of the State Border Committee or an official authorized by him. </p> <p> </p> <p> The resolution defines a list of persons who are not subject to the restrictions on exit from Belarus. The document has added the list of persons who are not subject to temporary suspension of entry into Belarus via road border crossings, simplified border crossings, railway stations, border crossings at river ports.
