Belarus’ Telecom Ministry recommends operators recalculate subscription fees following Internet connection problems

The Ministry of Telecommunication and Informatization of Belarus recommends that Belarusian telecom operators should recalculate subscription fees following the Internet access problems in the country from August 9 to 11, 2020, the ministry reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Telecom Ministry explains the shutdown, claiming that “multiple cyber-attacks on infrastructure of telecommunication networks of Belarusian operators and on websites of state bodies and organizations” took place. Authorized telecommunication operators are said to perform emergency recovery works. </p> <p> </p> <p> A1, Belarusian provider of telecom, ICT and content services, has already announced subscription fee compensation to mobile communication and home Internet and television subscribers. Belarusian telecommunications operator Beltelecom has announced a recalculation of the subscription fee in accordance with the established procedure. </p> <p> </p> <p> MTS and life:) operators have not yet officially responded. The MTS call centre informs that the decision on the timing and forms of recalculation will be made later.
