Belarus’ sugar export up 75.8% in Jan-Aug 2020 to 341,900 tonnes

Belarus increased the sugar export in January-August 2020 by 75.8% year on year to 341,900 tonnes, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> In monetary terms, the export increased in Jan-Aug 2020 by 25.6% to $105.05 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus supplied 301,000 tonnes of sugar to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) (up 55.4% yoy) worth $92.193 million (up 10.6%). Russia accounted for 136,500 tonnes (down 7.8%) worth $41.476 million (down 34.9%), Kazakhstan – 77,873 tonnes (up 3-fold) worth $23.729 million (up 120%). </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus exported sugar in Jan-Aug 2020 at an average price of $307,262 per tonne, down 28.5% yoy. The price for the CIS averaged $306,328 per tonne (down 28.8%), countries outside the CIS – $314 per tonne (down 17.3%). End </p>
