Belarus short of Br159m to finance spring field operations - Agriculture Ministry

Belarus is short of Br159 million ($60.62 million at the rate of National Bank of Belarus) to finance spring field works, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Grakun told journalists on 30 March. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We need Br2.25 billion ($860 million, $1/Br2.6228) to carry out spring field works. Virtually today this amount is being raised from the republican and local budgets, from credit resources and from our own funds. There is a financing gap of Br159 million. We are recovering these funds by obtaining services and material goods, that is, plant protection agents and spare parts with deferred payment,” said Grakun. </p> <p> </p> <p> He also informed that the Belarusian state farms have already started spring sowing.
