Belarus sets 2021 hard liquor production quotas

Belarus has approved quotas for production of various kinds of alcoholic beverages in 2021 (government resolution No.764 of December 26, 2020 posted on the National Legal Internet Portal). </p> <p> </p> <p> The annual quota for vodka and alcoholic beverages in 2021 remains at 10.951 million decaliters (dal) as in 2020; fruit vodka – up 35.3% to 11,500 dal; grape vodka – down 28.5% to 2,500 dal. </p> <p> </p> <p> The quota for production of fruit and berry natural wines was reduced by 0.7% to 4.657 million dal; grape wines – down 6.9% to 3.886 million dal; calvados – down 44.8% to 16,000 dal; rum – remains at 31,500 dal. </p> <p> </p> <p> Quota for production of fortified fruit vintage wines of improved quality produced by a special technology is reduced by 2.9% to 4.531 million dal; cognac – up 5.2% to 629,000 dal; brandy – up 20.5% to 200,000 dal; fruit brandy – down 33.3% to 2,000 dal; whiskey – up 1.3% to 231,000 dal. </p> <p> </p> <p> The annual quota for champagne and sparkling wines remains at 1.9 million dal; tequila – remains at 14,500 dal; grain liquors – up 14.6% to 220,000 dal; special wine drinks – down 56.5% to 30,000 dal. The quota for special fortified fruit wines is set at 60,000 dal (no quota for 2020); fruit in fruit wine – remains at 2,000 dal (same as in 2020). </p> <p> </p> <p> The quota for production of Geist is set at 1,000 dal (same as in 2020); hard liquor – up 9.9% to 501,000 dal. Output of rectified ethyl alcohol from food raw materials in 2020 will amount to 8.484 million dal of ethyl alcohol (down 2.8% year on year); non-food ethyl alcohol – 1.045 million dal of ethyl alcohol (down 8%).
