Belarus set to create automotive industry cluster
<p> MINSK, Aug 5 - PrimePress. Belarus intends to create an automotive industry cluster. This is one of the targets specified in the Programme for Socio-Economic Development of Belarus for 2021-2025 approved by presidential ordinance #292 of 29 July 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> The core of the automotive industry cluster will be enterprises producing diesel and hybrid internal combustion engines compliant with the Euro 6 emission standard and higher, gearboxes for medium and large cars, automotive components and engines for passenger cars, road and construction equipment on MAZ chassis. </p> <p> </p> <p> The share of cars and buses equipped with engines compliant with Euro 6 and higher will account for 75% of the total production volume. </p> <p> </p> <p> In accordance with the programme, the Minsk Engine Plant (MMZ) will increase output of tractors with 80-130 hp gas-diesel engines. The share of tractors with engines meeting Stage 5 standards will account for at least 10% of the total output. </p> <p> </p> <p> BELAZ intends to increase the output of quarry dump trucks with payload capacity of 90-450 tonnes and increase the share of Belarusian products on the global market of mining equipment to 31%. At present the share of heavy dump trucks in the world market is about 30%. </p> <p> </p> <p> The programme also provides for creating new productions of electric freight and passenger electric vehicles and their components, electric-powered utility vehicles, and the expansion of production of charging infrastructure. The share of electric transport in the total production of passenger vehicles should reach at least 30% in 2025. End </p> <p> </p>
