Belarus’ sea transport export services up 82.9% to $284.2 million in January-July

Belarus increased exports of maritime transport services by 82.9% year on year in January-July 2021 to $284.2 million, according to the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> In January-July 2021, exports of maritime transport services accounted for 5% of the total exports of services in Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus increased imports of marine transport services by 79.4% year on year in January-July 2021 to $348.6 million. Imports of sea transport services accounted for 11% of the total imports of services in Belarus in January-July 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the balance of payments methodology, the export of services increased by 18.6% year on year in January-July 2021 to $5.691 billion. In January-July 2021, the share of the EEU countries in Belarus’ total exports of services was 18.5%, of which the Russian Federation accounted for 17.2%, the EU countries - 39.8%, other countries - 41.7%. Belarus provides the Russian Federation with services to transport Russian oil and gas to Europe. </p> <p> </p> <p> Belarus increased imports of services by 20.8% yoy in January-July 2021 to $3.183 billion. Imports from the EEU countries amounted to 28% of total imports, including 26.9% from the Russian Federation, 39.9% - from the EU countries, and 32.1% - from other countries. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the Ministry of Transport of Belarus, seven vessels are registered in the State Register of Maritime Vessels of the Republic of Belarus, and their owners are foreign companies. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Belarusian merchant marine fleet is represented by one vessel, which is operated by Belarusian Shipping Company. The company provides services of export and import cargoes delivery to/from Ukraine, Black Sea ports, as well as countries of the Danube region. </p> <p> </p> <p> In Belarus, shipping is available by inland waterways of the Dnieper, Berezina, Sozh, Pripyat, Zapadnaya Dvina and Neman rivers, the Dnieper-Bug and Mikashevichi canals and the Zaslavl reservoir. A section of the E40 waterway of international importance runs through Belarus. The inland waterway infrastructure includes eight river ports - Brest, Pinsk, Mikashevichi, Mozyr, Gomel, Rechitsa, Mogilev, Bobruisk. End </p>
