Belarus, Russia to resume railway passenger services Feb 8, 2021

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the required documents on February 3, 2021, after a report by the anti-coronavirus operational headquarters, says the press office of the Russian government. </p> <p> </p> <p> Passenger transportation by rail will resume on February 8, 2021 on the Minsk-Moscow-Minsk, Moscow-Kaliningrad, and Kaliningrad-St. Petersburg routes through Minsk on a reciprocal basis. The number of regular flights between Moscow and Minsk will increase on February 8, 2021 from three to five per week, and air travel from Rostov-On-Don and St. Petersburg to Minsk will be resumed on a reciprocal basis, one flight per week from each airport,” reads the statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko said on January 26 during talks in Moscow with Russian Prime Minister Mishustin that the stabilization of the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in Belarus and Russia would make it possible to fully resume passenger services. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Igor Petrishenko said in early January that Belarusian Railway and Russian Railways were technically ready to resume international passenger rail traffic disrupted by the pandemic.
