Belarus, Russia set up working group on interbank cooperation as part of union programmes

Belarus and Russia are setting up a working group on interbank bilateral cooperation consisting of representatives of the central banks of the two countries to interact regularly in order to address topical issues, including the implementation of the Union Programmes approved by the Supreme State Council of the Union State on 4 November 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, on 4 Nov 2021 President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the decree of the Supreme State Council (SSC) of the Union State of Belarus and Russia “On the guidelines for Implementing the Union State Treaty in 2021-2023” during a session of the SSC session held by videoconference on 4 Nov 2021. Prior to Lukashenko signing the decree, the document was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The SSC decree approves the 28 roadmaps, which set the milestones of integration of both states in the framework of the Union State. Among other things, the union programmes to deepen the integration of the two countries provide for harmonisation of monetary policy and macro-prudential regulation, foreign exchange regulation and foreign exchange control, information security requirements in the financial sector, regulation of credit and non-credit financial institutions, and the financial market in general.
