Belarus, Russia not to revise last year’s food supply balance in 2021– Agriculture Ministry
<p> MINSK, Feb 8, PrimePress. Belarus and Russia have signed the 2021 forecast supply and demand balance for foods in the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The volume of supplies will be maintained at the level of 2020, Alexei Bogdanov, head of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, told reporters on February 8, 2021. </p> <p> </p> <p> “We have signed the balances for 2021. They are maintained at the level of 2020, because it was hard to make plans, as 2020 was a difficult year of the pandemic, and many distorting factors influenced mutual trade. That is why it was decided to leave the volume of supplies in 2020 unchanged,” said Bogdanov. </p> <p> </p> <p> He said that the plan of mutual supplies of meat and dairy products and sugar was almost completely executed by the parties in 2020. “There was a certain decrease with respect to some commodities, and there was a surplus with some other items,” he said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the official, the coordination of balances is needed for planning in the agricultural business, to calculate required investments in the Union market sectors, which experience mutual supply shortages, and to plan exports and imports. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, when planning mutual supplies, Belarus and Russia are being guided by livestock output in 2020. According to preliminary data, the planned mutual supplies in 2021 will not be lower than in 2020. Mutual food supplies in 2019 totaled $3 billion in monetary terms. End </p>
