The net loss of the resident enterprises of Belarus’ free economic zones (FEZ) in Jan-Jun 2020 totaled Br35.2 billion ($14.3 million at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Belarus) against a net year-on-year profit of Br965.4 million ($392.7 million), the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) said in a statement. </p> <p> </p> <p> Proceeds from sales of goods, works in services of FEZ enterprises in Jan-Jun 2020 decreased by 0.2% to Br8.895 billion ($3.618 billion). Industrial output was up 0.2% (in actual prices) to compare with Jan-Jun 2019 to Br8.290 billion ($3.372 billion). </p> <p> </p> <p> FEZ residents reduced exports of commodities in Jan-Jun 2020 by 5.4% y/y to $2.535 billion. Imports decreased by 12.3% to $1.589 billion. The export of services reduced by 55.2% to $24.279 million, and the import of services fell by 30.7% to $45.890 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> Capital investment in FEZ totaled Br569.6 million ($231.7 million) in 1H20, down 1.6% y/y in comparative prices. Foreign investments amounted to Br111.2 million ($45.2 million), up 3.5% year on year in comparative prices. </p> <p> </p> <p> The FEZ numbered 430 registered residents as of Jul 1, 2020 (+6 from Jul 1, 2019), including 417 (+2) active.
