Belarus reports $828m foreign trade surplus in Jan-Mar 2021
<p> MINSK, May 12 - PrimePress. Belarus’ surplus in foreign trade in commodities and services amounted to $828 million in Jan-Mar 2021 compared with a $357.4 million surplus in Jan-Mar 2020, says the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> The foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased in Jan-Mar 2021 by 17.1% year on year to $19.794 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities and services increased in Jan-Mar 2021 by 19.5% year on year to $10.311 billion; imports were up 14.7% to $9.483 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The deficit of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $213.4 million in Jan-Mar 2021 to compare with a $657.4 million deficit in Jan-Mar 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were up 24.9% y/y in Jan-Mar 2021 to $8.023 billion, imports increased by 16.3% to $8.237 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in services amounted to $1.041 billion in Jan-Mar 2021 against a $1.015 billion surplus in Jan-Mar 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of services increased in Jan-Mar 2021 by 3.8% year on year to $2.288 billion; imports were up 4.8% to $1.246 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus stood at $1.922 billion in 2020. The turnover of foreign trade in goods and services totalled $72.242 billion; exports – $37.082 billion; imports – $35.16 billion. Export of goods (in FOB prices) amounted to $28.257 billion in 2020, imports – $30.226 billion; export of services – $8.825 billion; imports of services – $4.934 billion. End </p>
