Belarus reports $756.1m foreign trade surplus in Jan-Feb 2021

Belarus’ surplus in foreign trade in commodities and services amounted to $756.1 million in Jan-Feb 2021 compared with a $396.4 million surplus in Jan-Feb 2020, says the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> The foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased in Jan-Feb 2021 by 13.3% year on year to $12.146 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities and services increased in Jan-Feb 2021 by 16% year on year to $6.451 billion; imports were up 10.3% to $5.695 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $88 million in Jan-Feb 2021 to compare with a $245.4 million deficit in Jan-Feb 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were up 21.2% y/y in Jan-Feb 2021 to $5.017 billion, imports increased by 12.4% to $4.929 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in services amounted to $668.1 million in Jan-Feb 2021 against a $641.8 million surplus in Jan-Feb 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of services increased in Jan-Feb 2021 by 0.8% year on year to $1.434 billion; imports were down 1.9% to $766 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus stood at $1.922 billion in 2020. The turnover of foreign trade in goods and services totalled $72.242 billion; exports – $37.082 billion; imports – $35.16 billion. Export of goods (in FOB prices) amounted to $28.257 billion in 2020, imports – $30.226 billion; export of services – $8.825 billion; imports of services – $4.934 billion. End </p>
