Belarus reports $425.4m foreign trade surplus in Jan 2021

Belarus’ surplus in foreign trade in commodities and services amounted to $425.4 million in Jan 2021 compared with a $261.8 million surplus in Jan 2020, says the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> The foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased in Jan 2021 by 11% year on year to $5.689 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities and services decreased in Jan 2021 by 13.5% year on year to $3.057 billion; imports were down 8.2% to $2.632 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $100.2 million in Jan 2021 to compare with a $61.2 million deficit in Jan 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were up 19.4% y/y in Jan 2021 to $2.367 billion, imports increased by 10.9% to $2.267 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in services amounted to $325.2 million in Jan 2021 against a $323 million surplus in Jan 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of services decreased in Jan 2021 by 3% year on year to $689.9 million; imports were down 6.1% to $364.7 million. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus stood at $1.922 billion in 2020. The turnover of foreign trade in goods and services totalled $72.242 billion; exports – $37.082 billion; imports – $35.16 billion. Export of goods (in FOB prices) amounted to $28.257 billion in 2020, imports – $30.226 billion; export of services – $8.825 billion; imports of services – $4.934 billion. End </p>
