Belarus reports $2.738bn foreign trade surplus in Jan-Sep 2021
<p> MINSK, Nov 10 - PrimePress. Belarus’ surplus in foreign trade in commodities and services amounted to $2.738 billion in Jan-Sep 2021 compared with a $1.567 billion surplus in Jan-Sep 2020, says the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> The foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased in Jan-Sep 2021 by 31% year on year to $61.101 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities and services increased in Jan-Sep 2021 by 32.3% year on year to $34.92 billion; imports were up 29.6% to $32.181 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The deficit of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $610.3 million in Jan-Sep 2021 to compare with a $1.28 billion deficit in Jan-Sep 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were up 36.3% y/y in Jan-Sep 2021 to $27.414 billion, imports increased by 31% to $28.024 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in services amounted to $3.349 billion in Jan-Sep 2021 against a $2.846 billion surplus in Jan-Sep 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of services increased in Jan-Sep 2021 by 19.5% year on year to $7.506 billion; imports were up 21% to $4.157 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus stood at $1.922 billion in 2020. The turnover of foreign trade in goods and services totalled $72.242 billion; exports – $37.082 billion; imports – $35.16 billion.
