Belarus reports 22.3% increase in tax arrears in Jan-Sep 2020 to Br134.8m

Belarus reports a 22.3% increase in business entities’ arrears of payments to the state budget in January-June 2020 to Br134.8 million ($52.7 at the rate of the National Bank Belarus) as of Oct 1, 2020, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of current payments amounted to Br74.1 million as of Oct 1, 2020 ($28.9 million), up 1.1% in Jan-Sep 2020; arrears on inspections – Br41 million ($16 million), up 50.2%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of VAT accounted for 50.6% of the total, standing at Br68.2 million ($26.6 million) as of Oct 1, 2020, up 51.2% from January 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of payments for land amounted to Br14.7 million ($5.7 million) as of Oct 1, 2020 (10.9% of the total), up 1.4% from Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Income tax arrears (8.1% of the total) decreased in Jan-Sep 2020 by 37.7% to Br10.9 million ($4.3 million) as of Oct 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Real estate tax arrears amounted to Br7.4 million ($2.9 million) as of Oct 1, up 19.4% from Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Excise tax arrears totalled Br3.2 million ($1.3 million), down 15.4% since Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of other taxes and duties amounted to Br30.3 million ($31.7 million) as of Oct 1, 2020, up 31.7%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Deferred arrears stood at Br162.7 million ($63.6 million), up 59.8% in Jan-Sep 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in 2019, Belarusian business entities’ arrears of payments to the state budget decreased by 34% to Br110.2 million ($43 million) as of January 1, 2020.
