Belarus reports $1.981bn foreign trade surplus in Jan-Nov 2020

Belarus’ surplus in foreign trade in commodities and services amounted to $1.981 billion in January-November 2020 compared with a $233.7 million surplus in January-November 2019, says the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat). </p> <p> </p> <p> The foreign trade turnover of goods and services decreased in Jan-Nov 2020 by 15.1% year on year to $64.564 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities and services decreased in Jan-Nov 2020 by 12.8% year on year to $33.272 billion; imports were down 17.5% to $31.292 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The deficit of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $1.499 billion in Jan-Nov 2020 to compare with a $3.111 billion deficit in Jan-Nov 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were down 14% y/y in Jan-Nov 2020 to $25.425 billion, imports decreased 17.6% to $26.925 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> The surplus of foreign trade in services amounted to $3.48 billion in Jan-Nov 2020 against a $3.344 billion surplus in Jan-Nov 2019. </p> <p> </p> <p> Exports of services decreased in Jan-Nov 2020 by 8.7% year on year to $7.847 billion; imports were down 16.8% to $4.367 billion. </p> <p> </p> <p> As reported, Belarus’ foreign trade deficit stood at $243.4 million in 2019. The turnover of foreign trade in goods and services totaled $84.175 billion; exports – $41.966 billion; imports – $42.209 billion. Export of goods (in FOB prices) amounted to $32.315 billion in 2019, imports – $36.391 billion; export of services – $9.651 billion; imports of services – $5.818 billion. End </p>

The deficit of foreign trade in commodities amounted to $1.499 billion in Jan-Nov 2020 to compare with a $3.111 billion deficit in Jan-Nov 2019.
Exports of commodities (in FOB prices) were down 14% y/y in Jan-Nov 2020 to $25.425 billion, imports decreased 17.6% to $26.925 billion.
