Belarus reports 17.6% increase in tax and duty arrears in Jan-Jun 2020 to Br129.6m

Belarus reports a 17.6% increase in business entities’ arrears of payments to the state budget in January-June 2020 to Br129.6 million ($49.8 at the rate of the National Bank Belarus) as of July 1, 2020, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of current payments amounted to Br62.1 million as of Jul 1, 2020 ($23.9 million), down 15.3% in the first half of 2020; arrears on inspections – Br41.9 million ($16.1 million), up 53.5%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of VAT accounted for 49.5% of the total, standing at Br61.1 million ($24.6 million) as of Jul 1, 2020, up 42.1% from January 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of payments for land amounted to Br14.7 million ($5.6 million) as of Jul 1, 2020 (11.4% of the total), up 1.4% from Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Income tax arrears (8.9% of the total) decreased in the first half of 2020 by 34.3% to Br11.5 million ($4.4 million) as of Jul 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Real estate tax arrears amounted to Br6.9 million ($2.7 million) as of Jul 1, up 11.3% from Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Excise tax arrears totaled Br3.9 million ($1.5 million), same as of Jan 1, 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> Arrears of other taxes and duties amounted to Br28.5 million ($10.9 million) as of Jul 1, 2020, up 23.9%. </p> <p> </p> <p> Deferred arrears stood at Br165.3 million ($63.5 million), up 62.4% in 1H20. </p> <p> </p> <p> As previously reported, in 2019, Belarusian business entities’ arrears of payments to the state budget decreased by 34% to Br110.2 million ($42.3 million) as of January 1, 2020.
