Belarus’ Foreign Minister Vladimir Makey stated that at a seminar for the heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions and consular offices. </p> <p> </p> <p> The financial and economic war against Belarus unleashed by the West creates new opportunities that can be implemented with reliance on partners. </p> <p> </p> <p> “I mean, first of all, our strategic partners, Russia and China, and other countries, the foothold that we have gained in our traditional markets and also the strategies and plans to increase our presence and explore new markets and niches,” BelTA reports citing Makey as saying. </p> <p> </p> <p> Makey pointed out that despite the negative external factors, Belarusian export is doing well in 2021. “Indeed, one can say that the export rose on the low base effect of last year or cite some other reasons and factors. Nevertheless we have ensured a great increase in export this year,” Makey said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the National Bank of Belarus, foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased by 30.7% year on year in January-May 2021 to reach $34.885 billion. Exports of goods and services from Belarus increased by 32.7% year on year in January-May 2021 up to $18.067 billion, imports - by 28.7% to $16.819 billion. Belarus’ trade surplus in goods and services in January-May 2021 amounted to $1.248 billion against a surplus of $548.1 million in January-May 2020. </p> <p> </p> <p> “This is a good result, and we need to do our best to keep this trend, despite all the difficulties we are facing, both sanctions and others,” said Makey.
