Belarus registered 33,371 coronavirus cases as of May 21, 2020, the Health Ministry of Belarus reports on its official Telegram channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> 12,057 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals. </p> <p> </p> <p> Yesterday, the ministry reported 32,426 registered coronavirus cases and 179 deaths in Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Health Ministry says over 403,000 tests for the coronavirus infection have been conducted in Belarus as of May 21. </p> <p> </p> <p> After a meeting with President Lukashenko on May 21, Health Minister Vladimir Karanik told journalists that “a clear decline in the incidence of pneumonia" was recorded in Minsk and Vitebsk”. The minister described the situation in other regions as stable and noted that the health system as a whole works without overloads. </p> <p> </p> <p> Karanik suggested that the coronavirus COVID-19, like any pandemic strain of the virus, is losing its aggressiveness over time. “The virus will remain in the society, but will stop hitting newspaper headlines, will leave the ranking of the most aggressive viruses because it will lose its virulence. It will be yet another variety of cold-related diseases with a small percentage of complications in the form of pneumonia and with a not very high lethality rate,” he said. End </p>
