Belarus registered 21,101 coronavirus cases as of May 8, 2020, the Health Ministry of Belarus reports on its official Telegram channel. </p> <p> </p> <p> 5,484 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals. </p> <p> </p> <p> Yesterday, the ministry reported 20,168 registered coronavirus cases and 116 deaths in Belarus. </p> <p> </p> <p> The Health Ministry says over 240,000 tests for the coronavirus infection have been conducted in Belarus as of May 8. </p> <p> </p> <p> Health Minister Vladimir Karanik told reporters on May 8 that the Health Ministry plans to conduct centralized testing in some areas of Belarus to determine the level of immunity to the COVID-19 coronavirus in the society. </p> <p> </p> <p> The minister explained that they will do the testing in the likely event of a second wave of coronavirus incidence in the autumn-winter period. “For this reason, we will conduct research to determine the immune layer in our society. In some areas it will be centralized, somewhere everyone will be able to take a test,” Karanik said. </p> <p> </p> <p> To conduct the centralized research, the Health Ministry will use express tests for COVID-19 antibodies.
