Belarus regards farm product supplies to China as new export driver– Snopkov

Supplies of farm products to China are a new driver for Belarusian exports, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov, head of the Belarusian delegation to the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, said at the meeting of the Committee on December 14, 2020, the press service of the Belarusian government reports. </p> <p> </p> <p> “There is positive dynamics in trade with China, which, in many respects, stems from the changes in the composition of Belarus’ exports. The product range is expanding, and the dependence on the export of potash fertilizers is reducing. Supplies of Belarusian farm products to China are steadily increasing, which we consider to be a new driver for our exports,” Snopkov said. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the first vice premier, Belarus prioritizes active promotion of Belarusian exports to China, admission of new kinds of Belarusian beef products to the Chinese market, expedited accreditation of Belarusian dried baby food, an increase in the quota for sugar supplies to China, creation of electronic trading platforms as a promising bilateral trade tool, inclusion of Belarusian products in China’s state reserves, establishment of joint ventures to process Belarusian raw materials in China, simplification of trade procedures and elimination of trade barriers, and optimization of payment mechanisms. </p> <p> </p> <p> According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Belarus increased its food exports in January-October 2020 by 130% year on year to nearly $200 million.
